Mad at Gravity- Resonance
I was waiting on pins and needles for this
album. I thought it was be amazing because I was so blown away by
their acoustic tracks on MP3.com months ago. Was I ever wrong. Those
3 songs lost something and every other song on the album sounds
exactly like them. Its not even good in a typical numetal way.
Highlights: Walk Away. Yes, the Reign of Fire
single.
Lowlights: Time and Time Again
Verdict: Dig up those acousitic songs and leave
the album on the shelf.
Machine Head- Hellalive
The new live album by Machine Head is a
great mix of all their albums. And if you're not sure where a song
came from, Robb tells you each track and the album during the show.
That's the only thing I'm not too fond of. But as far as live albums
go, the sound quality is great and it puts you right there.
Highlights: Bulldozer, Davidian
Lowlights: The Blood, the Sweat, the Tears (it's a little slow)
Verdict: If you love this band, you need to own this cd.
Machine Head- Supercharger
I had heard that MH was going to rerecord
the vocals, but apparently that's not the case because a lot of them
still sound pretty shitty. That's gotta be my only real complaint
about the album. Robb's voice cracks like a 13 yr old boy.
Highlights: Bulldozer
Lowlights: American High
Verdict: Buy it if you already love Machine
Head. If not, start with another album
Medication- Prince Valium
I'm not really sure what to say about this
album. It took a few listens to grow on me. Some of it is kinda
Tinfed-ish, I guess just in the fact that it's a lot less heavy than
I expected.
Highlights: Nothing Left
Lowlights: Underground
Verdict: Yeah, buy it if it's cheap.
Rhett Miller- The Instigator
This guy almost sounds like the guy from Eve
6. Love songs. A singer songwriter that looks like a guy I went to
high school with. I didn't think I'd be very impressed, but I liked
it more and more as the disc went on. If you like this style, you'll
enjoy it.
Highlights: Things That Disappear
Lowlights: Come Around
Verdict: Yeah, get it. It'll grow on you after a few
listens
Murderdolls- Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls
This album sounds very....retro. Guitar
driven early 90s metal, some almost punk/hardcore songs. Not what
you'd expect looking at the guys on the cover. I guess it's
Misfits-ish, but the recording sounds so thin. I thought Slipknot
guys were all about production.
Highlights: People Hate Me
Lowlights: Love at First Fright (a bad punk song), Die My Bride (do
they mean Die Die Die My Darling?)
Verdict: I'm definitely not a fan of this album. You might be though.
